my cyber doppleganger

This is pretty much exactly what I looked like today, as I ran back and forth between meetings. But with messier hair. And a heavier messenger bag. And much bigger feet. And don't ask about the waistline.

Like most bits of Internet coolness, I stole this from another blog. You can make you're own (skinnier) doppleganger too, if you happen to be a gal.

My contribution to the world's collection of boring postcards:

Dunoon Ferry Terminal

Take my word for it that Mr. Goddess's hometown of Dunoon is a lovely little spot, with many scenic wonders to recommend it. But the ferry terminal ticket kiosk isn't one of them.

Zut alors! Existing FTP client no longer working. Pourquoi? Je ne sais pas. Mais oui, a newly downloaded FTP client is now working fine. Pourquoi? Qui s'inquiète!

Pardon my French. Yesterday I had to watch the England v Sweden game on French satellite TV while trying to figure out why my FTP client suddenly decided to do a flaky after more than a year of faithful service. Normal broadcasts (of both the World Cup and this blog) will resume shortly.

Overheard in Rochester: Pop Psychology

Where: Dave Matthews concert, Six Flags Darien Lake

Hip, tattooed, pierced chick: “I think most cult members would have to be nice people. You wouldn't want to join a cult of assholes, right?”

It's a Fact! It's a Toid! It's a Factoid!

Paraguay is the only country with a flag that is different on its reverse side.

(Plus, they gave England a good scare in their first World Cup game. You go, Paraguay!)

Happy Flag Day!

Vacations are wonderful things. If you have the time and the means, I highly recommend one. I haven't thought about work for 16 days, and tomorrow I will pay for this blissful if temporary state of ignorance when I confront the engorged beast that is my email inbox. But this is a very small price to pay.

More photos and details to follow in the days ahead. For today, the goddess remains OOF.

exhausted people at the British Museum

5,000 years of history in one afternoon. The British Museum claims more victims.
